Tamil Nadu government regulates ambulance prices in bids to curb profiteering

Tamil Nadu: The government has now regulated the prices of private ambulances in the state. There were increasing reports of ambulances overcharging covid patients and the relatives. The Tamil Nadu Government has stepped in now  to regulate the price of such ambulance services. According to the regulated rates, the patient's transport service, the ambulance will cost Rs 1500 for the 1st 10km and Rs 25 extra for every additional kilometer. The basic life support ambulance will cost Rs 2000 for the first 10km and Rs 50 additional for every km. Advance life support ambulance will cost Rs 4000 and Rs 100 extra for every additional kilometer. If the ambulance continues to charge high, the citizens can file a complaint on the 104 helpline.
